A Lifelong Journey.
There are moments when life provides you with a transformative opportunity to find your calling. As I embarked upon my private practice a decade ago, I found mine. I have always loved working with adolescents and young adults. For many, this is a time of emotional upheaval but also great potential. A curious thing happened in my practice. Many of the teens I was working with happened to be adopted. I wanted to know why. I began a journey to uncover answers and resources for my clients. I learned that adoptees are overrepresented in all aspects of mental health. I leaned in, not only to the experiences and feelings of my clients, but also to my own life as an adoptee. This has added a rich depth to my practice and ability to connect with adoptees. While everyone’s adoption story is unique, there are common personal and relational themes throughout the lifecycle of many adoptees. My work has expanded to include the needs of all members of the adoption kinship network as well as issues related to search and reunion. My approach focuses on hope and healing as individuals touched by adoption integrate their personal narrative into their lives, improving self esteem and personal relationships.

In 2024, I completed a Doctorate in Social Work (DSW) from Rutgers University School of Social Work. During my three years in the program, I engaged in research and scholarship related to the lived experience of adoption. As part of my work, I created a website geared towards educating mental health professionals about therapy with adult adoptees. Check out the website here:
